I’m Danny Giacopelli. I’ve been obsessed with small businesses for years — from my days at Monocle, where I hosted one of the podcast industry’s earliest business shows, The Entrepreneurs, to my time as editor of Courier, a global magazine about living and working on your own terms.

Now I’m building For Starters, a newsletter and community for supporting, empowering, connecting, teaching, inspiring and celebrating the next generation of incredible small business owners.

Our manifesto:

• Small businesses are the beating heart of our communities.

• While it’s easy to start a small business, it’s harder than ever to succeed. Half of small businesses don’t see their fifth birthday.

• The playing field is uneven. Unlike tech startups, small businesses don’t have easy access to quality advice, community and support.

• With the right support, small businesses can achieve huge things.
